I was born in New Jersey and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York. I have been living in the valley since 1997, and have been a teacher at Sequoya since then. I graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in History. Next, I completed a master's degree in Elementary Education with a reading instruction endorsement through Northern Arizona University. More recently, I earned a doctorate in the area of Curriculum and Instruction, with a reading instruction focus, at Northern Arizona University. I have previously taught grades one, three and five at Sequoya and was honored with the Charros Teacher of the year award for the 2008/09 school year. I also hold a position as adjunct faculty for Northern Arizona University, where I teach graduate education classes. My wonderful wife, Megan, is a fabulous first grade teacher at Sequoya. We have a four year old daughter named Elyse. Her interests include: Strawberry Shortcake, Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, and the Little Mermaid. Our daughter Bailey is 18 months old. She enjoys Baby Einstein, eating crackers, and dazzling us with her use of the words "dada" and "mama". She also enjoys following the Barney Live Tour 2011 (Barneyhead). My interests include: cycling (no motor), reading, listening to a wide variety of music, cooking, and eating. My favorite food would have to be Buffalo chicken wings (the hotter the better). I am very serious about education, but I try not to take myself too seriously! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
